Bellingham beer distributor reportedly acquired by Anheuser-Busch InBev

Local alcoholic beverage distributor, Sound Beverage Distributors, and national beer brewer, Anheuser-Busch InBev (A-B), are reportedly pursuing A-B’s acquisition of Sound’s distribution rights for A-B and non-A-B brands.

Sound has been owned and operated by the Shintaffer family since its founding in 1950. They distribute several labels of domestic and international beers and craft beers to customers in Whatcom, Skagit and Island Counties.

The Washington Beer Blog reported A-B has been selling off wholly owned distributors rather than purchasing, as appears to be happening here.

A-B One of Washington, located in Renton, is a wholly owned distributor that services much of the Puget Sound area.
