CHS Northwest to layoff 11 as 1 Lynden store is sold, others for sale

LYNDEN, Wash. – CHS Northwest, which operates 7 “farm and home” retail locations and 8 “fuel and express” locations, notified the Washington State Employment Security Department that 11 employees were expected to be laid off due to sale of 1 of the Lynden retail locations.

CHS Northwest is selling and/or transferring operations of multiple store locations in Washington. This letter serves as CHS’s official notice under Washington’s Mini-WARN Act (WA.S.B. 5525).

Specifically, CHS is selling the store located at the following location:

  • Lynden True Value Store: 119 17th Street, Lynden, Washington 98264

We currently expect these transactions will initially impact 11 employees in the State of Washington. These layoffs are permanent and are expected to occur on April 1, 2026. This change will not result in the relocation or contracting out of any impacted employee’s position.

Even though there are currently only 11 employees who are being laid off, there may be additional future transactions dictating layoffs that trigger notice obligations under Washington’s Mini WARN Act.

We have already provided all affected employees with written notices about the sale of the above-referenced store.
