A/R alert: Whatcom County bankruptcy filings (Feb. 2026)

After a business discovers a client on their accounts receivables list has filed for bankruptcy, experts say to act quickly to avoid violating federal law by ceasing all collection activity while simultaneously positioning yourself to recover as much debt as possible by being identified as a creditor.

Each bankruptcy debtor is required to provide the court with a list of creditors to whom the debtor owes money or might owe money. Those creditors will receive a notice from the court.
