BELLINGHAM, Wash. — July 14, 2026 — Cascadia Media Company today announced the appointment of Jonathan Martin as editor-in-chief, advancing the company’s commitment to strengthen its editorial leadership in service to communities across the Cascadia region. Martin will assume the role in September.
A seasoned investigative journalist and editor, Martin will lead the editorial vision of Cascadia Media Company’s expanding editorial efforts with the development of Cascadia Daily Life magazine while directing the newsroom of Cascadia Daily News. His appointment reflects the company’s commitment to strengthening independent, ethical and community-focused journalism while building a sustainable future for trusted local news. Building on the publication’s tradition of award-winning journalism, Martin will uphold the editorial independence, integrity and public-service mission that define the organization while working closely with company leadership to strengthen audience engagement and support the long-term sustainability of local journalism.
Martin brings three decades of Pacific Northwest journalism experience to Cascadia Media Company, including more than 22 years at The Seattle Times, where he served as investigations editor for five years. He has been part of teams that won Pulitzer, Edward R. Murrow and Investigative Reporters and Editors awards, among other honors, was a Knight-Wallace fellow at the University of Michigan and was managing editor of Honolulu Civil Beat.
Throughout his career as a reporter, editor, columnist and editorial writer, Martin has earned a reputation for newsroom leadership, rigorous investigative journalism, and an unwavering commitment to public accountability, journalistic integrity and ethical reporting.
